2 Simple Tips to Help You Build Muscle Faster

Building muscle is not a priority for the human body. If we want our body to grow bigger and stronger we have to force it do so. There are numerous approaches to achieve this end, but most systematic methods of muscle building over-complicate things. I want to simplify matters by sharing with you two easy to implement tips that will help you in your quest to build more muscle.
Tip #1: Rest for 90 Seconds or Less Between Sets
The legendary bodybuilder and coach, Vince Gironda, always taught his students that to build muscle most effectively they should strive to continually perform more work in less time, thus creating more intensity on the muscles being trained. This concept is lost on most lifters in today's gym, but it is an effective means of packing on additional muscle mass.
If you've been resting for two or three minutes between sets you are giving your muscles time to almost fully recover from each previous set and not taking advantage of the muscular fatigue from each previous set to completely overload your muscles. Whenever possible, keep your periods of rest in between sets short and sweet. I have found that sixty to ninety seconds is sufficient to give your muscles enough time to recover adequately to be prepared for each subsequent set.
Tip #2: Lift Heavier Weights
Far too often individuals continue lifting the same amounts of weights for the same number of reps for months on end and then wonder why their muscles aren't getting any bigger. They aren't growing larger because you aren't introducing a new level of stress and overload that will force them to compensate by doing so.
Make sure that as your body gets stronger you aren't continuing to lift the same amount of weight for the same number of reps. Throw another five or ten pounds on the bar every so often to ensure that your muscles are continually receiving new levels of stimulation and intensity. This will force them to consistently adapt and grow as they experience increasing levels of stimulation and intensity.
After reading these two tips you may be thinking these methods should be common sense, but the truth is that they are ignored by most gym-goers, and is why the average gym member busts their butt at the gym for months on end with little to show for it. If you haven't been incorporating these muscle building techniques into your training plan, just adding these two strategies will make a huge difference in your gains in muscle and strength over time. So start taking less time between sets and being intentional about increasing the weights you are using as your body grows stronger.
